Treacle Market is one of the largest Artisan Markets in the North West. Held on the historic cobbles of Macclesfield Marketplace on the last Sunday of every month (except December, it takes place on Sunday 17th). Enjoy over 150 stall of exceptional quirky unique artworks, antiques, books, vintage finds , delicious food & drink plus stalls and information from the local community.
The Treacle Market is a perfect place to spend a few hours ambling around, browse the stalls, meet up with friends, listen to live music and sample the exceptional street food for lunch.
Don’t miss the the annual Treacle Hound Dog Show on Sunday 24th September. It’s now become the most prestigious event in the discerning canine’s calendar. Forget the likes of Crufts, it is simply good fun and is as suitable for characterful mongrels as preening pugs. There will be nine classes – with the addition of a special class just for sighthounds. This is fitting as all the proceeds of the show go to local greyhound & lurcher rescue charity Erin Hounds. This class is in memory of one of their stalwarts Jack who was well known by Treaclers.
Erin Hounds’ volunteers rescue and rehabilitate endangered Irish greyhounds & lurchers and help to find them loving homes. Raising awareness of the vast problem of overbreeding and welfare issues that affect sighthounds is also part of the charity’s work. So whether you are showing your dog or want to find out more about Erin Hounds & how you could adopt a hound, head to the Churchyard. Registration from 12 noon. £1 per class.
