The Old Sunday School Heritage Centre run a number of special exhibitions through the year. Explore the history of this grand and fantastic building and follow the amazing history of the Sunday School, discover archaeology and enjoy one of their temporary exhibitions, you can also check out wonderful illustrations on how Macclesfield developed and grew from a market town to a global player in the Silk Industry.
Makers Place at the Heritage Centre is an open plan creative space within The Old Sunday School where individual makers have their own studio space to make and sell their work. Enjoy a eclectic mix of products from jewellery to mixed media art, wedding tiaras and bouquets, textiles and crochet.
The Old Sunday School has a large shop, stocking a wide range of items including original silk pictures, Macclesfield-made silk ties and handkerchiefs, silk scarves designed by local artists and a variety of pieces created by local contemporary craftspeople and fine artists.
As well as the handcrafted gifts and bespoke items, there are a wealth of books for sale, covering all aspects of local history and textiles. Pocket money novelties and vintage-inspired toys are also available for younger visitors.
The Tea Kitchen
The Tea Kitchen at The Old Sunday School serves a selection of hot and cold food and refreshments. The walls are decorated with work by local artists so there is always something new to see.
